The Civil Design will work independently with a project team to create 2-D and 3-D models, design drawings, and supporting documents and reports for a wide variety of small and large site development and site finishing projects throughout the United States. This position reports to senior engineers and completes their tasks with little guidance provided. This associate will be required to manage multiple projects and could be required to mentor and oversee the work of multiple entry level professionals. The Civil Designer should be capable of interfacing with both internal and external clients as needed to maintain schedules. This associate should know the industry well enough to ensure that items are elevated to the Engineer of Record as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with all aspects of civil engineering design including layout, grading, road design, drainage, utilities, and erosion control.
- Analyze topographic data and create grading models in Civil 3D.
- Prepare drawings in a manner consistent with company standards and client requirements for format, standard, and quality.
- Develop or modify project documents based on rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other data received from Engineers.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing submittal packages, supporting calculations, quantity and cost estimates, project schedules, and other related project management duties.
- Assist project manager / project engineer with consultant and project team coordination
- Maintain knowledge of governmental regulations, codes, and ordinances to apply them to plans.
- Assists in the development of new CAD standards and processes.
- May travel to job sites for observation and to perform field measurements.
