Health Care experience is desired

The Courier is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.

This position requires interaction with other drivers, medical staff, ancillary areas and patients directly in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Job Description
The Courier transports equipment, medication, specimens, mail, x-rays, hazardous material and records from one location to another within the hospital, PNS and other facilities. The Courier responds to requests within his routine route and other request that may occur from time to time by the Director / Assistant Director or Lead Transporter of Nursing Support Services. The Courier services UMC, PNS and surrounding area clinics.

None.
Physical Capabilities
The Courier must be emotionally and physically fit. Work requires much driving, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and transporting of specimens, medications, supplies, records, paperwork, and equipment. The atmosphere may at times become stressful and physically / emotionally demanding. Since assignments are based on actual transportation needs of various areas and departments, the courier is required to work throughout the hospital and surrounding areas.
The work is of high risk for exposure to Biological and Chemical hazards.
Skills and Abilities
The Courier should possess good written and verbal communication skills; should be knowledgeable of the physical layout of the UMC / TTHSC Complex; PNS clinics and follow established procedures and practices related to the position. The courier’s day will consist of heavy lifting.
