Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership skills preferred.
Works in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs in the department as described by the philosophy of the hospital. May work in other areas than assigned when needed. Exposure to blood borne pathogens is high risk.
This position requires close interaction with medical staff and ancillary areas in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and safety.
The Operations Manager oversees daily operational needs of the Environmental Services Departments of both Housekeeping and Linen services. Coordinates daily tasks and projects of all personnel assigned. Daily Responsibility of training and development of personnel in accordance with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and other regulatory agency guideline standards. Schedules staff appropriately to meet needs of facility doing so in line with budgetary constraints. Responsible for overall quality and cleanliness of the facility in addition to visiting with customers to meet expectations. In the absence of the Assistant Director and Director, acts as the administrative liaison between the department, key customer contacts, and administration.
HAZMAT OPERATOR" certification required within the first (6) six months of employment.
Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms and legs to safely operate hand and power type tools and equipment. Mechanical devices may not be such that they interfere with safety aides Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ability to lift / move various types of equipment, supplies, chemicals, and furniture of light / medium weight. Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and stretching.
Requires reading, writing, and counting skills as well as performing calculations related to quality assurance and improvement inspections. Independent judgment required to schedule, evaluate, counsel, and train staff. Mental and visual effort required to monitor and report issues related to quality and service improvement opportunities. Basic knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, and other small office equipment. Experience in operating floor cleaning equipment and other equipment used in Environmental Services a plus.
