Summary:
As an Assistant Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting the estimating team by gathering project data, analyzing blueprints, calculating material quantities, and assisting in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring timely and competitive bids while adhering to company standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Data Gathering: Review project plans, specifications, and other construction documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Conduct site visits to gather measurements and assess project conditions.
- Contact subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing information for materials and labor.
- Quantity Takeoff: Utilize estimating software to perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials like concrete, framing, drywall, finishes, etc.
- Calculate labor hours based on project complexity and crew productivity rates.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze pricing data from suppliers and subcontractors to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, and contingencies.
- Bid Preparation: Assist in assembling bid packages, including project summaries, scope of work, and detailed cost breakdowns.
- Review and verify the accuracy of estimates before submission.
- Prepare and submit bids within established deadlines.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of project data, pricing information, and estimating documents.
- Update and manage estimating software databases.
- Assist with project tracking and reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with a preferred Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience: 0-3 years of experience in construction estimating or project management.
- Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
- Strong math skills with the ability to perform accurate calculations.
- Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
