We are looking for a skilled Application Engineer to join our U.S. team. In this role, you will be the product expert on our microbiological testing solutions, focusing on food manufacturing, food safety, and rapid microbiological methods. You will work closely with Sales Managers, Product Management, and customers to ensure successful implementation, training, and technical support for our cutting-edge food safety technology.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the product expert – provide technical knowledge, answer customer inquiries, and troubleshoot device-related issues.
- Support sales efforts – assist Sales Managers in customer acquisition, technical consultations, and product demonstrations.
- Conduct training & onboarding – lead webinars, in-person training, and workshops to educate customers on system operation, sample collection, and result interpretation.
- Perform customer validations – develop test schedules, oversee testing, analyze results, and provide technical documentation.
- Provide on-site & remote support – travel to customer locations as needed for system installations and training.
- Develop technical resources – create FAQs, instructional videos, user guides, and other materials to support customers and internal teams.
- Gather customer insights – identify challenges, track feature requests, and relay feedback to Product Management to improve future product iterations.
- Assist with regulatory compliance – ensure system adherence to industry standards (e.g., ISO, HACCP, FSMA, FDA).
- Collaborate across teams – work closely with Sales, Product Management, R&D, and Marketing to align solutions with customer needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement – identify opportunities to enhance product usability, training methods, and service efficiency.
- A degree in microbiology, biotechnology, food technology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related scientific field.
- Alternatively, a technical background with hands-on experience food safety testing.
- Experience in food safety, quality control (QC), or pharmaceutical microbiology is a plus.
- Strong understanding of microbiological testing methods, especially rapid microbiological methods (e.g., ATP bioluminescence, flow cytometry, PCR, impedance-based detection).
- Familiarity with food safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 16140, HACCP, FSMA, FDA, AOAC validation).
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments and microbiological sample preparation.
- Knowledge of automated microbiological detection systems.
- Ability to conduct system validations, method verification, and performance qualification (PQ) for customers.
- Strong communication & presentation skills – explain complex microbiological concepts to non-experts (e.g., sales teams, customers).
- Problem-solving mindset – troubleshoot technical issues in customer applications.
- Ability to train and support customers in the adoption and implementation of the RMM system.
- Collaboration skills – work closely with Sales, Product Management, and R&D teams.
- Flexibility & willingness to travel for customer visits, system installations, and training.
- Fluent English; German is a plus.
- Willingness to travel (regionally and internationally) up to 30% for customer meetings, trade shows, and on-site training.
- Experience in B2B technical sales support or working in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO 17025 labs, GMP/GLP settings) is advantageous.
