SUMMARY: Under general supervision, assists in the administrative and supervisory functions involved in the operations of the public pool and adjoining areas and supervision and training of assigned staff.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Supervises and provides on-going training to assigned staff; hires, trains, schedules, and assigns tasks to lifeguard staff.
· Oversees the daily operations of aquatics; enforces pool rules and policies, maintains operational records, prepares, and manages aquatics operations budget.
· Directs and participates in preventative maintenance and repair of aquatics equipment; maintains pool filters, pumps, chemical and electrical systems; maintains chemical inventories; assists with maintenance and orders supplies as necessary.
· Coordinates with Recreation Center Manager to schedule special and group events.
· Performs lifeguard duties as needed.
· Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or related field
· 3 years of experience in area of expertise which includes administrative and supervisory duties
Required Licenses and Certifications:
· Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
· Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
· Must have successfully completed Lifeguard/CPR/AED/ First Aid training and Certification at time of employment.
· Specific technical skills training and certifications may be required depending upon the area of assignment.
· Lifeguard Instructor Certification
Required Knowledge of:
· Water safety program policies and procedures.
· Pool operating systems including but not limited to circulation, chlorination, and filtration systems.
· Principles and practices of effective project management, leadership, supervision and training.
· Methods and applications of basic lifeguard practices.
· State laws pertaining to pool operation standards and pool chemical standards and regulations.
Required Skills in:
· Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
· Providing administrative and professional direction and leadership to staff.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
· Work is performed in an indoor or protected environment. Lifeguard duties are performed in a public pool area. Requires both standing, sitting and physical efforts when attempting a water rescue; must meet physical requirements set in Lifeguard Certification training. May be exposed to bodily fluids while administering first aid; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment.
· Required to work routine nights and weekends as regular schedule.
· Required to work unsupervised in the presence of children or vulnerable adults.
