PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Supervises and leads the day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs and activities; assembles necessary supplies for each activity.
· May take attendance for assigned group and records names of participants who are not in attendance; calls participants or parents to verify absences as necessary.
· Oversees, leads, and assists with various activities; observes participants during program; enforces rules and safety procedures; implements disciplinary actions as necessary.
· Participates in facility or venue set-up, clean-up, and sanitation.
· Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
If assigned to Youth Enrichment:
· Provides direct supervision and actively interacts and engages with children during the program.
· Supervise as a group leader responsible for overseeing a group of 12 children and co-counselors.
· Develop and implement lesson plans and lead a variety of group activities for campers.
· Provide leadership, guidance, and delegate tasks within your group to Rec Leader staff.
· Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
If assigned to Fitness:
· Creates and implements inclusive fitness classes for multiple fitness levels and populations.
· Maintains fitness equipment and follows standard operating procedures if equipment does not meet standards.
· Mainly coordinates and instructs fitness classes to the public within Recreation Community Center.
· Ensures Recreation Center members are following guidelines and using equipment properly.
If assigned to Climbing:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED equivalent
· 1-3 years of experience in recreation programs or working with children
Required Licenses and Certifications:
· Must possess or have ability to obtain a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
· CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain certification.
If assigned to Fitness:
· Professional certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months through one of the following: ACE personal trainer or group fitness, NASM CPT, ACSM CPT/GEI/EP.
Required Knowledge of:
· Recreation site safety rules and regulations.
· Methods of program planning and implementation.
· Principles, practices, and methods of conflict resolution and problem solving.
Required Skills in:
· Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely
· Assessing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
· Administering basic first aid.
If assigned to Fitness:
· Resolving conflicts efficiently and effectively.
· Development, planning, and implementation of fitness classes and programs.
If assigned to Youth Enrichment:
· Ability to transport campers in a 15-passenger vehicle.
· Comfortable working outdoors and supervising children in or around a pool like setting or large bodies of water.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
· Work is performed both in an indoor or protected environment and outdoors. The incumbent may be occasionally exposed to unfavorable conditions while located at County facilities or at other locations during the course of business.
· Required to work routine nights and weekends as regular schedule.
· Required to work unsupervised in the presence of children or vulnerable adults.
If assigned to Fitness:
· 60% instructing fitness classes; 15% equipment cleaning, safety checks, and standard office environment; 65% facility and participant check-in in the general fitness area.
