What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Nursing Assistant position at Teton Valley Hospital?
The CNA functions as an integral part of the nursing care team under the supervision of an RN and/or LPN. This position provides basic care assisting patients with the activities of daily living. The CNA performs routine data collection regarding the patient's condition, maintains safe, clean therapeutic patient atmosphere and performs other designated unit support activities including a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information in nursing. This position functions as a focal communication source and coordinates work within the nursing staff as well as with other departments within the hospital or clinic setting. All employees perform their work duties in a manner which promotes and supports the Standards of Conduct of Teton Valley Health Care; and demonstrate support of the organizations mission, values, and vision in all actions and interactions with employees, patients, medical staff, guests and visitors.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Responsibilities & Duties
- Greets visitors, in person and over the phone; answering inquiries; relaying calls to patients; giving directions; referring appropriate inquiries to nursing and medical staff.
- Helps patients by responding to intercom requests and coordinating patient care with RNs, LPNs, Providers and other hospital personnel.
- Completes necessary forms, requisitions, and communication to help implement provider orders.
- Serves as an informational resource by answering questions and requests.
- Assures consistent unit phone coverage when off unit.
- Maintains unit operation by following policy and procedures and reporting necessary changes in protocol.
- Helps with unit forms and supply inventory, restocking and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
- Ensures unit equipment is operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; processes work orders for repairs.
- Conserves unit resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
- Admits patients into computer system correctly and completely.
