What are the responsibilities and job description for the Med/ Surg RN position at Teton Valley Hospital?
The RN/Staff acts as a team member by aiding in the supervision and administration of quality care in the hospital. This position may manage the facility during hours that the administrator and Director of Nursing are not present. The RN/Staff is accountable for planning, organizing, directing and delivering patient care by utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established policies and procedures among patient/family, medicine, nursing, ancillary and other team personnel. This position acts as a patient advocate, assessing patients for educational, physiological, psychosocial, comfort and safety needs. The RN/Staff maintains current knowledge and personal education about standards of professional nursing practices and attends staff meetings and other training required by TVHC. This position allows for flexibility in scheduling the needs of a 24/7 facility. All employees perform their work duties in a manner which promotes and supports the Standards of Conduct of Teton Valley Health Care; and demonstrate support of the organizations mission, values, and vision in all actions and interactions with employees, patients, medical staff, guests and visitors.
Registered Nurse Responsibilities & Duties
- Directs, supervises, and provides professional nursing care.
- Works closely with the medical staff in the evaluation of patients and for the organization of an appropriate plan of care. Utilizes good assessment skills to make systematic observations to identify deviations from normal and any need for immediate intervention.
- Provides appropriate nursing care for all patients and consults with /updates charge nurse and/or Provider as necessary. This includes but is not limited to using good assessment skills to make systematic observations to identify deviations from normal and any need for immediate intervention.
- Safely, timely, and accurately administers all medications and IV solutions, including the medication reconciliation process, and the supervision Licensed Practical Nurses
- Executes legal orders based on knowledge of order’s cause and effect after verifying accuracy and no document contraindications.
