What are the responsibilities and job description for the JHLP Field Staff position at Teton Youth and Family Services?
The Jackson Hole Leadership Program (JHLP) is a summer initiative for youth in Jackson, Wyoming, designed to foster leadership, self-confidence, and positive decision-making through experiential outdoor activities. The program is divided into two phases :
- Phase 1 : For youth entering 5th to 7th grade. This phase consists of week-long day sessions with one overnight camping trip. Activities include games, team-building initiatives, and various outdoor experiences.
- Phase 2 : For youth entering 8th to 10th grade. This phase offers a more intensive experience, including a three-night, four-day backpacking adventure followed by a whitewater rafting trip.
- Assist Lead Staff in daily program facilitation
- Supervise and engage with participants during all activities
- Support risk assessment and group management
- Help set up and break down activities, camp, and meals
- Opportunity to stay on as a wilderness field staff for phase 2, if dictated by level of experience and availability.
- At least 21 years of age
- CPR / First-Aid certified (Wilderness First Responder or WFA preferred)
- Prior experience working with youth (preferred)
- Enthusiastic about outdoor education and team-building
