Job Title : Senior Water Resources Engineer / Technical Lead

JOB DESCRIPTION :

  • Oversee engineers and designers performing water resources modeling and transportation drainage designs. Manage drainage team weekly workload distribution including assigning tasks.
  • Participate in water resources business development and opportunity meetings including the creation / review of project proposals and identification of new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with internal project teams and clients on specific assignments and participate in meetings. Coordinate with outside subconsultant activities and deliverables as required.
  • Prepare project milestones, and monitors progress, schedules, and budgets for all assigned drainage projects and reports to technical managers. Ensure that all scheduled project deliverables are produced on time.
  • Serve as Senior Water Resources Engineer and Technical Lead for floodplain mapping studies, transportation drainage designs, land development impact analysis, bridge & culvert designs, stream channel modifications, master drainage plan updates, storm sewer network analysis, stormwater detention basin sizing and other water resources modeling projects.
  • Prepare Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) floodplain management program documentations including CLOMR, LOMR, and / or LOMA.
  • Lead the development, calibration, and validation of hydrologic and hydraulic numerical models using various software including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, and StormCAD including the use of ArcGIS tools to pre- and post-process modeling data.
  • Lead the preparation of technical reports for city / county-wide master drainage plan updates, transportation drainage designs for state and local roads, regional flood mitigation projects and a No-Impact analysis for local projects among others. Review, sign and seal technical reports.
  • Lead drainage study model and report reviews for local municipalities including Chambers County and City of Bunker Hill Village.
  • Review (QA / QC) hydrologic and hydraulic models, spreadsheet calculations and drainage study reports prepared by other engineers.
  • Expand technical and non-technical engineering skills through continuous learning and presenting at conferences.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Requires a Bachelor's degree in Water Resources Engineering and 5 years of experience in job offered or 5 years of experience in the Related Occupation

Project Engineer or any other job title performing the following job duties :

1. Serving as a hydrology and hydraulics engineer on water and transportation drainage projects, including updates to master drainage plans, analysis of land development impacts, culvert designs, storm sewer network analysis, and stormwater detention basin modeling.

2. Performing hydrologic and hydraulic numerical modeling using various software including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, XPSWMM / PCSWMM, and Excel spreadsheets. Providing planning and design recommendations for water resources and transportation drainage projects.

3. Using ArcGIS tools to pre- and post-process hydrologic and hydraulic modeling data, including the preparation of drainage report exhibits and maps. Preparing drainage report tables and figures using Excel spreadsheets.

4. Helping prepare and reviewing drainage reports and technical memorandums for various water resources and transportation drainage projects.

5. Assisting senior engineers and project managers in reviewing water resources models including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and XPSWMM / PCSWMM, drainage reports, and proposals for various local development projects including preparing project submittal packages, attending project meetings, identifying project tasks, and monitoring project deadlines.

6. Serving as a reviewer of hydrologic and hydraulic models, drainage plans, and reports for local municipalities.

7. Reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic models, spreadsheet calculations, and drainage study reports prepared by other engineers and provided comments.

8. Conducting field visits to collect modeling data including culvert / bridge sizes, roadside ditch ponding pictures, and open channel dimensions.

9. Improving technical and non-technical engineering skills through continuous learning and attending workshops.

10. Mentoring interns and preparing and presenting hydrologic and hydraulic modeling workshops.
