Essential Duties:
Under general supervision, operates in all areas of the plant. Receives direction from the Lead Operator on routine operations. Receives close direction on non-routine operations.
- Determines tank levels using level indicators, gauge glasses, measuring tapes, etc
- Loads and unloads trucks ensuring correct connections to storage tanks and proper weight of loaded vehicles
- Loads and unloads rail cars
- Performs basic analytical tests, including pH, density, and alkalinity
- Adjusts gas flow to control evaporator temperatures and samples evaporators
- Operates forklift and loader
- Charges solid raw materials from bags, supersacks, drums, or bulk storage
- Loads drums and/or tote containers to correct weight
- Maintains plant housekeeping
- Must maintain knowledge of safety policies and procedures impacting work performed and observe safe work practices at all time
- Responsible for personal safety through compliance with plant safety policies and procedures
- Recognizes and addresses unsafe actions or conditions to ensure the personal safety of fellow employees and to protect plant facilities
- Must be fully competent in the use of all tools and instruments required to perform job duties
- Must have basic process chemistry knowledge, including properties of acids, bases, and solvents
- Must have understanding of which raw materials are used for particular process steps
- Must understand the sequence in which tanks are used and the contents of the tanks during processing
- Other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
- EDUCATION: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- EXPERIENCE: 1 years related plant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Valid & Current Driver’s License, Vocational training preferred
- OTHER:
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office 2007 or greater proficiency
- Submit to and satisfactorily complete pre-employment background, medical, alcohol, and drug screening
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
- Able and willing to work a rotating shift schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime (if applicable)
- Able and willing to work in inclement weather, climb structures, perform work at heights, and in enclosed spaces
- Able and willing to work both independently in remote locations and in a team environment
