What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Mechanic position at Tevis Family of Companies?
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for providing maintenance support to the Tevis truck fleet.
$25-$35 per hour.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- General understanding of computer technology including Word, Excel, Outlook, and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Valid CDL driver’s license with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements – or willingness to acquire.
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial vehicle maintenance.
- Possess sufficient hand tools capable of performing the responsibilities in this job description..
- Regular and dependable attendance.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
- Willingness to travel as necessary within the service area.
- Comply with random DOT drug and/or alcohol testing.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/push/pull 80 lbs.
- Frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling.
- Maintain 3-points of contact when entering/exiting a truck.
- Willingness/ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
Responsibilities
- Timely completion of accurate DOT compliance paperwork and procedures involved in the Fleet Maintenance Process.
- Adhere to a maintenance schedule for the Tevis fleet.
- Communicate with vendors in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
- Record all maintenance records, work orders, and inventory in fleet maintenance software daily.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Provide any needed assistance requested by the Shop Foreman and/or the Fleet Manager.
- Be a part of keeping an accurate inventory of parts and tools.
- Use all Tevis equipment with proper and trained practices and report all broken or inoperable equipment to Shop Foreman or Fleet Manager.
- Diagnose/troubleshoot vehicle and delivery systems.
- Follow safety procedures for vehicle operation.
- Operate vehicles or material-moving equipment.
- Maintain vehicles in good working condition and appearance.
- Inspect motor vehicles including pre/post trip inspections.
- Work with management to adhere to a budget for Tevis Energy entities.
