Blue Mountain Construction Services has an Immediate opening for an Experienced HVAC Estimator in the Surrounding Vacaville Area
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HVAC Estimator who will be responsible for analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive and competitive bids that ensure profitability. This role requires strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of HVAC systems and components, and excellent communication abilities.
Responsibilities:
Bid Preparation and Analysis:
- Review and analyze project plans, blueprints, specifications, and other contract documents to understand the full scope of work.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for all HVAC materials, equipment, and labor required for each project.
- Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and specialized services.
- Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure best value and compliance with project requirements.
Cost Estimation:
- Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for HVAC installations, replacements, and service projects.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to generate detailed cost breakdowns.
- Calculate labor costs, material costs, equipment costs, and other project-related expenses.
- Factor in indirect costs, overhead, and profit margins to create comprehensive bids.
Bid Submission and Follow-Up:
- Prepare professional and well-organized bid proposals.
- Ensure timely submission of bids and adherence to deadlines.
- Follow up on submitted bids with clients to answer questions and negotiate terms.
- Maintain organized records of all bids, proposals, and related documentation.
Project Collaboration:

- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other team members to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather necessary information.
- Provide cost-related input during project planning and execution phases.
Market Awareness:
- Stay updated on current market prices for HVAC equipment, materials, and labor.
- Research new products and technologies to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Understand industry trends and their potential impact on project costs.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain and update estimating databases and pricing information.
- Prepare reports on bid results and analysis of won/lost projects.
- Identify and analyze cost variances between estimates and actual project costs.
Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously seek ways to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the estimating process.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in HVAC estimating.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, materials, and installation methods.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Working knowledge, experience and/or familiarity with specific estimating software including AutoCAD and Manual J,(load calculations).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
