What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic position at Tex Tech Industries?
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technicians to join our team at a brand-new site in Winston-Salem! Our industries include aerospace, defense, and automotive, and we are proud to work with the U.S. Department of Defense.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facilities maintenance and mechanical knowledge, including basic electrical knowledge, experience setting up and operating metalworking tools to make and repair parts, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair various systems.
CNC machining, welding, and/or electrical drawing experience are a plus!
US National & Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. National to work at the site. Maintenance Technicians will also be expected to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite for a U.S. Security Clearance.
Work Shift
During the initial phase of equipment installation and setup, the Maintenance Department will work Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Once the site moves into a production phase, the team will work 12-hour shifts.
Work Environment & Required PPE
Work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate. While on duty, Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) provided for this position must be used including respirators, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are required.
- Must regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear; frequently must stand or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally required to sit, and climb or balance.
- Experience with all hand and power tools used in the mechanical and plumbing trades; i.e., drill motors, power saws, pipe cutting and threading machines, gas welding and cutting torches. Must operate and certified to use mobile lifting equipment as required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and training program, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, code requirements, procedure manuals, Safety Data Sheets, and standard task procedures.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal instructions.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, and/or employees.
- Understanding and use of group decision-making techniques, and problem-solving meeting techniques. Ability to function in a team environment.
