Overview:
The Materials Manager oversees planning, procurement, inventory control, storage,
shipping/receiving, and distribution of materials and products to meet company and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead production and inventory control, shipping/receiving, and materials storage.
- Manage production planning and scheduling based on sales orders and forecasts.
- Align inventory levels with demand and sales/operations planning.
- Ensure accuracy of perpetual inventory systems and oversee year-end physical inventory/cycle counts.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to schedule materials, supplies, and equipment deliveries.
- Oversee shipping and receiving for materials and finished goods.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in transportation and logistics.
- Monitor and manage storage of raw materials and finished goods.
- Perform inventory write-offs for damaged or obsolete materials.
- Develop reports and metrics to track department performance.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proficiency with inventory systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of SAP and/or Epicor Kinetic preferred.
- Experience with ERP implementation is strongly preferred.
- Government contracting experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field required.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in materials control or supply chain management.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods at a desk and computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
