JOB SUMMARY: The Universal Banker-Vault Teller is responsible for processing teller-based transactions while maintaining appropriate currency levels as needed. This position is also responsible for providing all new account functions as well as cross-selling bank products/services to new and existing customers. Responsible for balancing cash vault and ensuring it is compliant with branch cash levels. Buys and sells money to other universal bankers and sells to Federal Reserve as needed. Must maintain and acquire knowledge of complete line of products/services offered at the bank. Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers and follows the established policies and procedures for this area, in accordance with the Bank and the supervisor’s direction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Processes transactions within established policies and procedures to ensure operational excellence.
- Ensures all audit and security policies and procedures are followed in accordance with Bank policy and Federal regulations.
- Explain various services available and assist customers in selecting these services.
- Open new accounts including checking, savings, Certificate of Deposits, and IRAs; verify and process changes to existing accounts; order debit cards; process customer check orders; and prepare letters to customers as needed.
- Performs servicing duties: greets and direct customers as they enter bank, researches customer inquiries, orders checks and/or debit cards, returns phone calls, helps customer’s balance their accounts, accepts and forwards wires, and maintains working knowledge of products/services for cross-selling.
- Receives checks and cash for deposit; verifies amounts; and checks accuracy of deposit slips.
- Cashes checks and pays out money after verifying signatures are correct, written and numerical amounts agree, and accounts have sufficient funds. Uses good judgment to determine when an Officer should approve a transaction.
- Examines checks for endorsements and to verify other information such as dates, bank names, identification of person(s) receiving payment and the legality of the item.
- Enters customer’s transactions into computer to record transactions and issue computer-generated receipts.
- Perform a variety of other tasks, such as filing, copying, and opening and distributing mail.
- Open or close safety deposit boxes; assist with inventory of deceased customers’ boxes.
- Fills orders for currency and coins for other tellers.
- Buys currency and coin from other tellers.
- Counts and records cash deposits in vault.
- Prepares and records excess currency for shipment to Federal Reserve.
- Orders and records appropriate currency from Federal Reserve as needed.
- Monitors the cash in the ATM and supplies cash as needed.
- Observes suspicious behavior and reports any such activity to management as appropriate. In the event of a robbery, remains calm and follows bank procedures to safeguard customers and staff.
- Provide notary public service (if needed).
- Maintain confidentiality of customer accounts and information.
- Performs other tasks as requested by management as they relate to the bank and its functions.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- At least 1 year customer service and cross-selling experience;
- At least 1 year teller experience;
- Ability to enter numerical data on computer with speed and accuracy.
- Good mathematical aptitude to facilitate daily balancing.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well with others.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to prioritize and organize
- 1-3 years banking experience preferred
