Role Responsibilities
Under the direction/supervision of the licensed nursing staff or their designee, the Crisis Center Psychiatric Technician/ Driver/ Housekeeping staff person performs multiple roles within the Crisis Center. The position provides care to individuals with a mental illness and/or a co-occurring substance use/abuse diagnosis along with individuals with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and intellectual or developmental disability. Duties include providing a safe and secure environment for all clients and providing support to nursing staff and the clinical treatment team.
The primary staff role is the safe transportation of Crisis Center clients to and from Texana sites. Transportation services include: pick-up and drop-off at Houston area hospitals, taking discharging clients home or to Houston area shelters, transportation of clients to medical or rehab appointments. Of primary importance is the provision of a warm handoff ensuring clients safely transition from one location to another. The transporter provides preventative maintenance and maintains documentation for Crisis Center vehicles. When not transporting the transporter will complete Crisis Center building maintenance and cleaning. This person is trained as a psychiatric technician and may be called on to provide psychiatric technician services. In this role they are responsible for providing nursing delegated/assigned services to clients with mental illness in the Crisis Center (involuntary extended observation unit and voluntary crisis residential unit.) This position is accountable and reports directly to the Crisis Center RN Manager. Works a 40 hour work week, utilizing 8 hour shifts with flexibility to meet program needs. Responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the compliance policy.
Salary
- $16.75/hour; plus shift differential
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Year of psychiatric/behavioral healthcare direct care experience
- Spanish speaking

- Must be able to perform kneeling; pushing; heavy lifting (45lb. & over); heavy lifting to include physical management of adults clients during behavioral health emergencies
