Role Responsibilities
The Psychologist V position performs advanced and/or managerial (senior-level) psychological work. Work involves directing psychological activities and programs, conducting psychological evaluations, diagnosing clients, and conducting psychological research. May plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. The Psychologist V position is responsible for the Center’s systems for determining eligibility for persons seeking admission to Intellectual Developmental Disability (IDD) services. Handicapping conditions included in the Center’s priority population include those who meet diagnostic criteria for developmental intellectual disability, autism-spectrum disorder, or “related condition” (as specified by inclusion on the HHSC approved list of related conditions). The Psychologist V provides clinical consultation and technical assistance to the Authority Services Division staff regarding diagnosis and treatment issues for persons with developmental disabilities. The Psychologist V reports to the Director of IDD Authority Services and is responsible for the adherence to and promotion of the agency compliance policy. Work hours are M-F, 8-5, at the Texana Center Service Center in Rosenberg, Texas.
Salary

Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- PhD in Psychology.
- Licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist.
- Experience in the assessment of individuals with childhood-onset intellectual disability and/or autism-spectrum disorder.
- Experience in the use of assessment techniques pertaining to cognitive functions, receptive and expressive language development, visual-motor integration, adaptive functions, and qualitative abnormalities in development.
- Experience in the use and application of diagnostic criteria specified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-5).
- Experience preparing written psychological reports.
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Experience conducting assessments of both children and adults within the developmentally disabled population.
- Experience participating in service plan team meetings to assist in development of service plans by providing information about potential psychological factors.
- Experience providing clinical consultation to staff members for diagnosis clarification or making service planning recommendations.
- Bilingual.
- Ability to work with computers and automated charting.
Job Related Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting (15#- 45#), pushing, stooping, light carrying (15#), repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting.
- Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
