Description
- Observe all safety rules and assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Comply with the Company’s quality management system requirements and promote the advancement of the QMS within TCI – Texarkana Aluminum, Inc
- Follow all written SOPs and Work Instructions per detail.
- Willingness to learn and understanding of customer requirements and knowledge of the production processes
- Supervise the work-related actions of laboratory technicians.
- Ensure lab techs are trained to safely and correctly perform job duties in manner that conforms with SOPs, Work Instructions, trainings, and communications.
- Ensure Aluminum Association guidelines are followed.
- Ensure ASTM standards apply and are followed.
- Oversee the completion of Safety Training modules, Monthly Safety Topics, Safety Stand Downs, and other safety topics initiated by TKA EHS Department.
- Coordinate and lead the preparation of metallurgical samples, performance of microstructural examinations, and communication of findings.
- Attend Continued Training Courses when offered.
- Assist Laboratory Manager with compliance of ISO 9001: 2015.
- SOP, RCCA, PCR, Process and Internal Audits, and Forms
- Assist Management in quality improvement internally when there is a request by Management.
- Assist on coordination of Laboratory equipment calibrations:
- Spectrometers, Tensile Testers, FT-IR, Moisture Analyzer, Haze Meter, and new equipment
- Assist in new equipment projects, PEHSR, Gage R&R, SPC, FMEA, SOP’s, commissioning
- Ordering and maintaining Laboratory Supplies and submitting the receiving receipts
- Ensure that all new Laboratory and Rolling Mill chemicals have approval through EHS by completing and submitting the New Chemical Approval Form.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management and/or Laboratory Manger
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Majors and Minors in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related field and willing to learn aluminum product and manufacturing process.
- In lieu of degree, three years or greater experience in aluminum industry
- Microsoft Office competency
- The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Organizational and Prioritization skills
- Lift and carry 50 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Previous experience with laboratory standards and equipment
- Laboratory training experience
