The Texarkana Arkansas School District is seeking applicants for Director of Athletics. The Athletic Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the school district’s athletic programs, ensuring compliance with state and district regulations, and fostering a positive sports environment that aligns with the district’s educational mission. The Athletic Director provides leadership, budget management, scheduling, and policy enforcement for all athletic activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Oversight & Development:
- Plan, organize, and oversee all athletic programs at the district/school level.
- Establish and maintain athletic policies and procedures in alignment with state and district guidelines.
- Evaluate and enhance athletic programs to promote student participation and success.

Staff Supervision & Support:
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate coaches and athletic staff.
- Ensure all coaches and staff are properly certified and trained according to district and state requirements.
- Provide professional development opportunities for coaches.

Scheduling & Event Management:
- Develop and manage athletic schedules, including games, practices, and transportation.
- Coordinate facility use for games, tournaments, and practices.
- Supervise home athletic events and ensure safety protocols are followed.

Budget & Fundraising:
- Develop and manage the athletic budget, including equipment purchases and facility maintenance.
- Oversee fundraising efforts and sponsorships for athletic programs.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with district financial policies.

Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all athletic programs comply with state athletic association regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of student-athlete eligibility, physicals, and academic progress.
- Implement safety procedures and ensure proper maintenance of athletic facilities and equipment.

Community & Public Relations:
- Serve as a liaison between the district, parents, student-athletes, and the community.
- Promote athletic events through social media, newsletters, and community outreach.
- Encourage sportsmanship and uphold the district’s values in athletics.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in athletic administration, education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Previous coaching or athletic administration experience required.
- Knowledge of state and federal athletic regulations.

Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with coaching endorsement preferred

- Ability to manage budgets and fundraising efforts.
- Knowledge of athletic training, safety, and student development.
Work Environment:
- Requires evening and weekend work for athletic events.
- Travel to games, conferences, and meetings is expected.
- Physical requirements may include standing for long periods, lifting equipment, and being outdoors in various weather conditions.
