POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the designated Registered Nurse, the Licensed Vocational/Practical nurse (LPN / LVN) is responsible for professional, direct patient care in the LPN/LVN role. The LPN/LVN will utilize the nursing process within their scope of practice to assist the Registered Nurse to develop, plan and execute patient’s plan of care. The LPN/LVN is responsible for care, in areas assigned, within the center, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
- LPN/LVN with active, unrestricted state license
- One (1) year of nursing experience
- CPR certification and/or ACLS-PALS certification (as required by Center)
- Strong ethical and moral character references
- Basic computer skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to obtain and document patient’s medical history
- Uses proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice following policies and procedures
- Ability to initiate, monitor, or discontinue various catheters, tubes, dressings, and equipment
- Ability to initiate intravenous access per nurse practice act, centers policy and procedures and state guidelines
- Effectively organizes and avoids wasteful practices of time, equipment, and supplies
- Escorts or transports patient safely
- Administers medications correctly and accurately per nurse practice act, centers policy and procedures, and state guidelines
- Observes universal precautions
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Attends all required education
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned
