Job Description
The Extension Assistant, under general supervision, performs programmatic and outreach responsibilities for the assigned extension program.
Extension Assistant, under general supervision, assists in evaluating and setting up programming for CDC Vector project, assists with preparing course material for vector related workshops for TX and southern region, compiles documentation for surveys, quarterly reports and will work with Dept of State Health Services to conduct needs assessment interview with TX mosquito districts across the state. Will assist lead PI on CDC Vector grant with writing reports and collecting information from statewide partners for the spreadsheet.
Responsibilities :
- Write reports and work with PI Hurley to ensure documentation is correct
- Help with advertising for events in the region
- Work with Team to ensure all evaluation methods are captured and reported to shared drive
- Participate in survey related activities including evaluation methods for training classes.
- Assist in other relevant projects related to vector control
- Produces material and surveys for programs
- Assists with program and outreach efforts.
- Participate in planning sessions, trainings, telephone call / conferences, and e-mail correspondence.
- Travel as needed to present at Vector related workshops, conduct in person interviews as required by projective narrative.
- Act as a liaison with American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA), National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) and participate with the other seven funded CDC projects.
- Working with project PI and DSHS, create a Texas Statewide Taskforce for Vector Management to ensure we have all areas represented and have good communication for current and future zoonotic outbreaks.
- Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience :
Preferred Education :
Master's degree in a related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Continuation in this position is dependent on available funding.
