Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assembles and operates technical equipment (e.g. tractors, cotton strippers, peanut combine etc.).
- Assists in coordinating repairs, maintenance schedules and proper maintenance of all farm equipment to maintain safe and efficient equipment.
- Assists in coordinating and assigning daily work schedules for employees.
- Assists in purchasing supplies and equipment.
- Assists in maintaining the grounds of the research program, pesticide storage, safety procedures, and ensure that workers use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Prepare seeds, manage planting, monitor crop growth, and assist with harvesting.
- Collects samples and measurement data from experiments.
- Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials.
- Apply agricultural chemicals following safety standards.
- Assists with program and outreach efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- No prior experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds to shoulder height.
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, ability to multitask and attention to detail, and and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to thrive in physically demanding environments and work as part of a collaborative team.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to perform fieldwork in varying conditions, including high temperatures, dusty environments, cold weather etc.
- Ability to work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.
- Ability to travel to multiple field locations as required.
- Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
