Position Information
We are seeking a Financial Accountant IV, under direction, performs lead accounting tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between internal tracking logs, banks and accounting system. Prepare and review accounting entries for the unit via FAMIS data entry/uploads including banking and credit card fees. Prepare weekly schedule for the daily reports and create bank transfer entries. Identify electronic transactions on bank reports and notify appropriate units for entry into the accounting system.
- Analyze and monitor daily bank activity transactions for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Lab through retrieval of daily balances and transactional data. Monitor and prepare reports for banking accounts via online systems.
- Validate both deposit slips and direct deposits against daily report to ensure that bank accounts have received proper credit. This includes but is not limited to; cash order requests, cash pick-up and vault security, ACH, Fraud Filter, NSF Returns, POS Pay and ZBAs)
- Monitor and clear unmatched entries in assigned GL's and bank accounts through Cadency system.
- Generate invoices through the iPayment platform for Unallowable Expenses and other various requests for invoice generation.
- Monitor and reconcile credit card chargebacks via detailed communications with the merchant services processor and applicable AgriLife department.
- Supervise daily verification process for banking data entry into accounting system. Ensure state documents are properly scanned and filed into Laserfiche. Oversee correction process of cash documents in accounting system.
- Initiate or review wire transfers for both agency needs. Verify and release daily deposits in banking system.
- Process federal draws on formula funds through federal system ASAP and USAS entries/release as needed.
- Communicate and share task load with additional Financial Accountant IV to ensure a balanced and successful partnership including serving as back up to complete their tasks when out of the office and with management assistance.
- Be prepared to represent agencies at TAMUS workshops and professional development trainings as well as conduct monthly trainings on behalf of the Banking and Receivables team.
- Accept new responsibilities and tasks as new technologies emerge and accounting processes evolve.
- Serve as back up to the Financial Manager when needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years of experience with an Associate's degree or 4 years of experience with a high school diploma). Plus an additional five (5) years of accounting experience in a business office.
Other Requirements:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good customer service and problem solving skills. Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
