Position Information
We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, under general supervision, performs scheduled maintenance work, restoration, renovation and improvements of facilities at the AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Vernon. In addition, identifies facility and equipment maintenance requirements. Completes maintenance of vehicles, farm equipment, irrigation systems, facilities, and infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies facility and equipment maintenance requirements.
- Completes maintenance of vehicles, farm equipment, irrigation systems, facilities, and infrastructure.
- Maintain and repair infrastructure of buildings, barns, facilities, and other relative applications while working closely with the Maintenance Foreman.
- Install, operate, replace, repair, and excavate irrigation system components at research sites.
- Perform grounds maintenance duties.
- Operate GPS guidance equipment and associated mechanical connections on farm equipment.
- Purchases supplies and equipment.
- Schedules maintenance and repairs of mechanical equipment, farm equipment, and vehicles.
- Assist with ensuring facilities are ready for conferences, field days, and other activities.
- Assist with planting, spraying, cultivation and harvest of research plots and production fields.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of related experience.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift or move heavy objects.
- Ability to exert heavy force.

Salary: This position is hourly paid. Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
