Position Information
We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, under general supervision, performs scheduled maintenance work, restoration, renovation and improvements of facilities at the
AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Vernon
. In addition, identifies facility and equipment maintenance requirements. Completes maintenance of vehicles, farm equipment, irrigation systems, facilities, and infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies facility and equipment maintenance requirements.
- Completes maintenance of vehicles, farm equipment, irrigation systems, facilities, and infrastructure.
- Maintain and repair infrastructure of buildings, barns, facilities, and other relative applications while working closely with the Maintenance Foreman.
- Install, operate, replace, repair, and excavate irrigation system components at research sites.
- Perform grounds maintenance duties.
- Operate GPS guidance equipment and associated mechanical connections on farm equipment.
- Purchases supplies and equipment.
- Schedules maintenance and repairs of mechanical equipment, farm equipment, and vehicles.
- Assist with ensuring facilities are ready for conferences, field days, and other activities.
- Assist with planting, spraying, cultivation and harvest of research plots and production fields.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of related experience.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift or move heavy objects.
- Ability to exert heavy force.

Salary: This position is hourly paid. Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
