Job Description
Purpose:
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications serves as the chief strategist and leader for all marketing, branding and communications efforts for the Texas A&M College of Engineering and the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). This role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that enhance the reputation, visibility and engagement of Texas A&M Engineering among stakeholders, including prospective and current students, faculty, staff, former students, donors, industry partners, and the broader public.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the strategic vision of the College of Engineering and TEES.
- Lead a team of marketing, communications and digital media professionals to create compelling content and campaigns across multiple platforms.
- Oversee brand management, ensuring consistency in messaging, visual identity and storytelling across all communication channels.
- Drive media relations efforts to promote research breakthroughs, faculty achievements, and student success stories through local, national and global media.
- Collaborate with university- and system-wide marketing and communication teams to align messaging and outreach efforts.
- Oversee digital presence, including website strategy, social media and digital marketing initiatives, to enhance audience engagement and user experience.
- Lead crisis communication efforts and provide strategic counsel to leadership on media and public relations matters.
- Manage marketing and communications budgets effectively, ensuring cost-efficient use of resources.
- Utilize data-driven insights and analytics to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
What is needed:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, branding, or communications.
- Demonstrated success in a senior marketing and communications leadership role, especially leading, developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns and strategic communications plans.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in media relations, digital marketing, social media and content strategy.
- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in a complex, multi-faceted organization.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data and metrics to drive decision-making.
