Job Descri ption

Purpose :

A Robotics Technologist evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering assembly techniques, procedures, and standards in the creation of robotic system hardware. Technologists are expected to be strong in various engineering skills involving a mix of electrical and mechanical engineering concepts; and be capable of applying them on projects in terrestrial and space environments. Technologists should work well on multidisciplinary teams consisting of university students, professors of practice, and other full-time engineering professionals.

Responsibilities :

Perform electrical wiring, crimping, soldering, and harnessing tasks according to provided technical drawings, schematics, and drawings. Should be capable of identifying and following best practices.
The assembly, installation, and validation of prototypes of spaceflight hardware of electro-mechanical robotic space systems and their related equipment.
The development of technical drawings and schematics in CAD software.
Strong collaboration skills in order to assist engineers in rapid prototyping, design, manufacturing, and assembly.
Conduct incoming inspections of CNC parts, Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), and related components to ensure quality standards.
Support testing and evaluation activities for prototypes, flight hardware, and ground support equipment through project lifecycles.
Other technical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

We are recruiting for a level I or II Robotics Technologist to support the Robotics and Automation Design Lab.

Minimum qualifications for a Technologist I :

Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum qualifications for a Technologist II :

Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of related experience

The well-qualified candidates would possess the following :

Knowledge of computer-aided drafting techniques, and design, including SolidWorks.

Knowledge of electronics, PCB design and Altium design software.

Ability to use technical drawings and populate PCBs and cable harnesses.

General knowledge of engineering testing.

Experience in effectively communicating and working cooperatively with others.

Previous experience working on robotic systems and integration.

Practical expertise in electro-mechanical assembly.

Demonstrated ability to exhibit flexibility and proactivity in task completion, ensuring adaptability to evolving project demands.

Proficiency in electrical wiring, connector crimping, surface-mount soldering, and wire harnessing, showcasing a thorough understanding of electrical systems and connections.

Proficiency in mechanical assembly (tapping, riveting, drilling).

Proficiency in general machining and assembly techniques including turning, milling, drilling, and using various fasteners
