Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field
Eight years of experience to include four years of related experience in program coordination and four years of supervisory experience of full-time employees
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in applicable field
Previous experience with Texas A&M University
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding
Responsibilities
Academic Program Coordination : Provides supervision to the graduate advising staff in OSS. Provides oversight and leadership of Graduate Student Advising for the School of Public Health; ensures that advising program policies and procedures align with departmental and university missions. Monitors and reports to leadership on retention and time to degree completion. Completes special projects for the Director, including reviewing and updating all Graduate handbooks in accordance with SPH and TAMU policies and procedures related to Graduate Student education. Collaborates with the Office of Academic Affairs regarding master’s and Doctoral Program Faculty Workloads and classroom utilization reports each semester. Communicates Advising and Curricular issues / information related to new programs to the Graduate Student Advising team. Organizes and oversees Graduate School Student Orientations in collaboration with Program Coordinators for Recruiting. Provides oversight of SPH 3 2 programs and determination of student eligibility. Leads strategic planning for areas supervised and assists Director in developing and implementing overall departmental strategic plans. Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate the success of areas of responsibility. Department and Student Advising Oversight : Works with Departments and students on professional concerns (e.g., Honor Code, probation, doctoral graduate committee memberships) and provides guidance to faculty and / or students. Collaborates on retention programming for graduate students.
Training and Compliance : In consultation with leadership, formulates and implements policies and procedures that comply with departmental and university policies. Trains advisors on how to input programs into CARS and respond to queries. Provides training to advisors on the use of student information management systems and updates regarding graduate degrees in SPH. Assists advisors with scheduling assistance and offers advice on cohort tracking and projections.
