What we want

The Associate Director of Texas A&M, College of Nursing Office of Nursing Compliance and Clinical Placement is responsible for managing the compliance for faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, they manage the clinical partnerships and serve as the point of contact for faculty, clinical teaching assistants, and clinical partners. This leadership position serves all Texas A&M University College of Nursing program delivery sites and online programs. This position reports to the Executive Associate Dean and receives input from the associate and assistant deans and program coordinators.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience

Eight years of experience to include three years of related experience in contracts, compliance, or clinical placement and five years of experience in the clinical practice of nursing

Experience with academic nursing clinical placements

Experience with compliance for faculty, staff, and students

Experience with information management

Experience with software tracking for compliance and placement

Required Licenses and Certifications

Current, or eligible, unencumbered RN licensure by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience

Current, or eligible, unencumbered APRN licensure by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Command of clinical placement requirements including compliance documentation, hiring of faculty, completion of agency requirements and reporting

Familiarly with the goals and preparations of health professionals and practitioners

Highly organized and accountable

Able to create and improve systems for organization of many variables (e.g., maintain accurate and detailed reports and records)

Able to remain flexible and effectively perform job during unexpected or changing conditions

Outstanding problem-solving skills

Strong skills in time-management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding

Excellent public relations skills and electronic and interpersonal communications

Knowledge of hospital organization and clinical systems

Responsibilities

Clinical and Compliance Leadership :  Serves as leader of the College of Nursing Office of Nursing Compliance and Clinical Placement team. Prepares annual budget and provides expense control for areas of responsibility and provides input into overall College of Nursing Office of Nursing Compliance and Clinical Placement budget. Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate the success of areas of responsibility. Assists Dean or designee in formulating and implementing policies and procedures. Supervises and directs staff and activities of project teams or functional areas. Develops reports, analyses, and surveys for Dean or designee. Completes special projects as requested by Dean or designee.

Oversight for the Management of the College Compliance for Faculty, Staff and Students :  Assists in developing and implementing strategic plans in relation to nursing compliance for faculty, staff and students. Oversees faculty, staff and students regarding clinical compliance requirements. Ensures compliance with college, University and government standards, policies, and procedures. Leads and develops College policy in relation to clinical compliance. Oversees and directs the use of a compliance management system. Communicates changes in compliance requirements to college leadership and faculty. Oversees and monitors facility specific compliance documentation to clinical agencies by the stated deadline for the semester.

Oversight for the Management of College Clinical Placements of Students :  Oversees affiliation agreements related to clinical partners. Assists in developing and implementing strategic plans in relation to clinical placement for students. Oversees faculty and students regarding academic clinical placement requests. Oversees the placement of undergraduate and graduate nursing students in clinical education programs related to their program of study. Leads and develops College Policy in relation to clinical placements. Oversees an accurate and accessible clinical partnership database. Manages, maintains, and contributes to clinical partnership data for reporting purposes. Oversees and directs the use of a clinical rotation management system. Represents the College of Nursing in requesting academic clinical placements with nurse educators and / or placement coordinators in hospitals, clinics and other institutions. Communicates confirmed or changed clinical placement agreements with program coordinator and other relevant faculty. Verifies affiliation agreements are current, and all compliance requirements are met for agencies used each semester. Communicates changes in contract requirements to college leadership and faculty. Oversees the collaboration with student affairs to communicate compliance and clinical agency specific requirements and procedures for new and continuing students.

Oversight for the Management of College Clinical Partnerships :  Identifies facility requirements at each clinical placement location, such as orientation and EHR training, and oversees the communicate of these clinical entry requirements to instructors and student groups in a timely manner. Keeps a record of these facility requirements, updating them as required when the facility changes their expectations. Oversees a database of student placement requirements by clinical agency. Collaborates with Associate / Assistant Deans to develop a clinical rotation plan each semester. Oversees database of clinical placements that includes clinical agency, faculty, students, objectives, patient / client population, and dates. Assures consistent communication with clinical partners regarding faculty and students names and student abilities and expectations. Serves as communication liaison between the college and each agency for placement requests. Communicates via email, phone and / or in person with nurse educators and / or placement coordinators in hospitals and clinics to develop clinical placements. Collaborates with College leadership and faculty to identify new clinical sites to meet program outcomes. Assists with evaluation of clinical sites including data such as faculty and student evaluations of clinical sites, average daily census for acute care sites, and preceptor evaluations. Communicates changes in clinical placement that might affect curriculum, accreditation, Boards of Nursing requirements, or the State Authorization Reciprocal Agreements. Monitors regulatory changes / requirements by the Boards of Nursing across the country. Represents the College of Nursing at clinical agency orientation events and trainings regarding clinical placement. Oversees the coordination of programs, ensuring program goals are consistent with departmental and University missions.

Maintenance of Licensure and Other Duties as assigned : Maintains clinical licensures and certifications needed as applicable. Performs other duties as assigned.
