The Compliance Officer II monitors, develops, executes, and facilitates program compliance with federal, state, and Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) regulatory and governing standards, including but not limited to laws, regulations, statutes, codes, policies, procedures, rules, and directives, as well as compliance own internal and external policies and procedures.
The Compliance Officer II is responsible for conducting onsite inspections and assessments to ensure clinical compliance, preparing reports, and maintaining records of discrepancies and corrective actions. It includes coordinating Clinical Compliance Committee meetings, documenting actions, and preparing data for reporting, such as chart reviews and patient feedback. Additionally, the position entails reviewing patient incidents, developing healthcare policies and procedures, and monitoring clinical personnel training.

Location / Schedule : This position is located in Bryan, Texas. This position may require flexibility to work beyond normal office hours including but not limited to overnight stays and additional travel as needed.
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years of related experience in clinical compliance and / or healthcare activities
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in developing and / or administering centralized compliance programs
Experience in an academic setting or environment
Advanced or graduate degree in an applicable field
Prefer some License or Certification : CHC, Certified Coder, RN / LVN / MA
Program implementation skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities :
Clinical Assessment and Monitoring
Clinical Compliance : Performs onsite inspections, conducts assessments of patient care areas, monitors OIG compliance, charting, coding, and clinical activities. Prepares reports, maintains records, and documents discrepancies and corrective actions. Reviews patient incidents and ensures proper recording and record management.
Program Support : Supports and facilitates the growth of the Clinical Walkthrough Assessment Program, coordinating compliance among HSC Clinical Operations, the College of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, the College of Nursing, and University Health Services / EMS. Coordinates Clinical Compliance Committee meetings, documenting actions and preparing data for reporting.
Compliance Management : Monitors known and emerging compliance issues, measures internal control effectiveness, and develops action items to address identified issues. Consults on new system implementations and enhancements. Monitors compliance with federal, state, and TAMUS regulatory standards, identifying and addressing clinical compliance vulnerabilities.
Policy Interpretation and Support : Interprets departmental policies, rules, and regulations, ensuring they are followed. Responds to questions, troubleshoots issues, and oversees monitoring of policies, procedures, and rules related to clinical developments. Serves as a resource for the university community to ensure clinical meets high standards of respect and confidentiality. Ensures proper use and disclosure of information in accordance with laws and TAMU System policies.
Policy and Procedure Development and Review
Compliance Program Management : Monitors, develops, executes, and facilitates compliance programs with federal, state, international, and TAMUS standards. Ensures adherence to laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Develops and secures remediation strategies. Creates and executes project plans, prepares supporting documentation, and drafts narratives for obligations, analyses, and recommendations.
Privacy Protection : Safeguards confidential information of students, patients, and employees.
Audit Coordination : Coordinates internal and external audits, providing requested information and planning pre-audits and follow-up audits. Maintains a database of rules and procedures.
Healthcare Compliance : Assists in developing policies and procedures for healthcare services. Monitors clinical personnel training, reviews course assignments, and tracks regulatory changes.
Investigations and Accountability : Conducts investigations of clinical compliance violations. Enhances accountability through information collection, analysis, and best practices implementation.
Training and Representation : Delivers training and education programs for clinical compliance. Represents the department at events and provides guidance to ensure clinical compliance.
