The Fire and Life Safety Code Compliance Inspector I is responsible for assisting with implementing aspects of the university fire and life safety (FLS) program.

Required Education and Experience :
Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
No required experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications :
A valid driver’s license within 60 days of hire
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to conduct the duties of the position
Proficient in MS Office
Preferred Qualifications :
Certified Fire Inspector; Certified Plan Reviewer
Experience in code compliance and / or fire and life safety systems
Essential Duties / Tasks :
FLS Construction & Inspection
Learn and develop an understating of building, fire, and life safety codes, standards, and procedures.
Assist other staff with inspections of various fire and life safety system and program areas.
Learn and manage construction and renovation projects.
Become familiar with and assist with larger more complex systems.
Compliance and Inspection Support
Conducts fire extinguisher inspection in critical facilities.
Assistance, Events & Emergency Response; Special Event Inspection Special Event Inspection
Assists superiors as needed.
Collaborates with other personnel in preparation of and during special events that have a need for Fire and Life Safety input.
Responds with other personnel to emergencies and assists emergency responders.
Collaborates with other personnel in preparation of and during special events that have a need for Fire and Life Safety input.
Other Requirements and Factors :
Work may occasionally require flexible work schedule to accommodate schedules related to construction, drills, or special events.
Must be able to operate a university vehicle
