Join our team as a mid-level Planner under the supervision of the University Architect, where you'll play a crucial role in enhancing Texas A&M University's built environment through short and long-term planning and conservation efforts. Your role includes ensuring sustainable management of architectural, environmental, cultural, and land resources, assisting in the coordination of the Campus Master Plan, and verifying that campus projects comply with TAMU design guidelines and standards.
Who we are
The Office of the University Architect leads the planning, design, and construction changes on campus. We provide project scope and definition, support the creation of memorable architecture, and ensure a unique sense of place. Our team conducts preliminary site planning studies, conceptual design studies, and develops the Program of Requirements (PORs). We also support the design and construction process of campus projects.
What You Need To Know
Salary is commensurate based on experience.
Salary range : $80,000-$90,000

This position is located in College Station, TX. Remote / Work from alternate location is not available at this time.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or a related field, any equivalent combination of education and experience
6-7 years of experience in planning (campus, regional, city planning, etc.) and working experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and SketchUp. .
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Urban Planning, experience with ArcGIS
Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
Responsibilities :
Project Development : Develop short and long-range campus planning strategies. Plan new developments or redevelopments to ensure compliance with the Campus Master Plan. Conduct studies on area plans, land use, circulation, sustainability, environmental, and development controls. Perform planning studies on scope, siting, and cost of projects, and provide recommendations. Analyze development impacts and campus planning needs. Provide technical recommendations on planning elements, sustainability, and capital projects.
Project Management : Participate in meetings and workshops to monitor campus projects for compliance with the Campus Master Plan. Coordinate with TAMU’s Landscape Architect to ensure compliance with the Campus Master Plan and Design Standards. Prepare and distribute data, drawings, maps, and other planning information. Ensure effective communication and coordination among team members. Review, track, and process campus project planning documentation.
Campus Standards, Processes, and Reports : Assist in developing and updating campus planning and sustainable design guidelines. Produce reports, presentation materials, graphics, and maps. Coordinate and gather data for planning and design projects. Develop and maintain update reports for campus planning projects. Develop methods and systems to measure and track compliance and implementation activities.
Outreach : Represent TAMU at local, regional, and state agency meetings. Prepare and present written and oral presentations. Provide mentorship to other OUA team members. Promote outreach and partnerships with academic components of the University.
