The Transportation Maintenance and Special Events Supervisor is responsible for directing employees, coordinating with Special Events and Parking Services personnel regarding event needs, and ensuring signs, barricades, and other devices needed for pedestrian notification and control are deployed successfully.
Coordinates the painting and maintenance of parking structures and parking lots. Supervises staff and contractors responsible for completing these tasks.
Completes physical inventory of departmental equipment. Provides leadership to assigned personnel on a daily basis.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education or experience.
Eight years of combined experience in coordinating special events, maintenance, or painting / striping parking lots, to include two or more years of supervisory experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications :
Must have a Class C vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to interpret Special Event Operations Maps and Engineered Traffic Control Plans.
Operational knowledge of various painting equipment pertaining to street / parking lot striping.
Ability to paint / stripe lots, etc. based on provided design concept drawings and sketches.
Ability to communicate face-to-face with customers.
Ability to back up a trailer.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Responsibilities
Supervision - Responsible for hiring, scheduling, and training staff within area of responsibility, including students and program aides.
Reviews procedures, coordinates and directs unit personnel, defines employees’ workload and work priorities. Reviews work and provides operational feedback on a frequent basis.
Monitors performance, maintains Manager’s Notes on all employees, and enacts progressive discipline if needed. Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive work environment focused on customer service and dedicated to continuous improvement.
Responsible for working with manager for guidance and assistance in accomplishing these tasks. Responsible for monitoring and approving hours worked and leave requests in a timely manner.
Plans continuing education for employees. Serves as a back up to the Transportation Maintenance Graphics Supervisor by directing the work of other staff assigned for task completion during business hours, weekends, and extended work hours as needed.
Trains employees on equipment, production procedures, and safety practice.
Coordination - Attends planning and coordination meetings related to special events. Monitors all TAMU-owned parking structures and parking lot paint / striping conditions.
Coordinates the layout and painting of parking structures, street striping, and markings as provided in design concept drawings, sketches, etc.
Provides input and feedback on layout designs to provide most efficient use and ease of utilization of space. Provides direct coordination and supervision for periodic labor-intensive functions such as football game support, pothole repairs, routine maintenance of parking structures (RV parks, garages etc.
etc. that the unit is charged with supporting. Coordinates the production and installation of all parking lot, garage, informational, and way-finding signage required in the absence of the Transportation Maintenance Graphics Supervisor.
Special Events - Coordinates and directs unit personnel with the support of Special Events and Parking Services personnel regarding campus-wide signage and barricade deployment.
Offers support necessary for year-round special events, including football games, fun runs, conferences, etc. Drives to various campus locations to set up signage and barricades, follows up on deployments, and ensures the final operations plan for each event is complete.
Ensures proper inventory levels of devices are available for support of upcoming events. Requires use of a university vehicle.
Administration - Assists manager in the execution of various tasks and duties as assigned. Tasks may include, maintenance, coordination with other units and departments, and / or representing the unit / department at various meetings and functions.
Coordinates and provides for the upkeep and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and devices assigned to the unit. In coordination with manager, ensures proper inventory levels of devices are available for support of upcoming events.
Responsible for maintaining audit controls within the unit. Oversees inventory reports and records retention for the unit.
Promotes security of vehicles, parking structures and safety to assure that the unit follows policies and procedures.
Other Requirements or Other Factors
Required to work overtime, weekends, all TAMU home football games, and occasional holidays when scheduled.
Required to provide support to the University when campus is closed due to weather / emergencies, as needed.
This position is security sensitive.
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws / codes and Texas A&M University System / TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures.
All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
Physical Requirements :
May require candidates to lift and / or move moderate to heavy weight objects.
May be required to stand / traverse for extended periods of time (hours may increase depending on Special Events).
Performs such tactile activities such as key punch, keyboarding, grasping, holding, wrist flexion / extension, and repetitive tasks.
Frequent lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, lifting, reaching (including overhead), pushing, pulling, twisting, walking, and sitting.
May require to climb stairs and ladders.
Must be able to work in both hot and cold environments.
