Job Description
This position is responsible for overseeing the Athletic Training program, which promotes and protects student-athlete health, wellness, and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position is responsible for overseeing the Athletic Training program, which promotes and protects student-athlete health, wellness, and safety.
- Responsibilities: Oversee all athletic training room operations including purchasing, insurance, and medical claims.
- Coordinate and deliver athletic training services to varsity student-athletes, under the direction of the team physician, including prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries, acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records for individual student-athletes, daily injury reports for all athletes, and annual injury report summarizing injuries, treatments, and follow up care.
- Schedule sports medicine staff, develop, implement, and maintain emergency action plans and standard operating procedures for all varsity athletic sites.
- Serve as primary trainer for assigned sports and travel with squad.
- Serve as Liaison to: team physician, NAIA & NCAA drug testing, all used medical clinics, hospitals, and the Student Health Center.
- Assist in transportation of athletes to/from athletic events, which may include driving a full-size passenger van or other large capacity vehicle

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in athletic training, sports administration, or related field.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and sports medicine standards of care.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Certified in the Board of Certification (BOC). Texas athletic trainer license or temporary permit by date of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years’ employed experience as a certified athletic trainer in secondary school, collegiate or professional athletics is preferred.
- Experience in therapeutic exercise, manual therapy or soft tissue certifications.
Other Requirements
- Maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification

Be able to lift and move medical equipment and supplies weighing up to 75-100 pounds.

- Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.

- Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- This position may be required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, in accordance with System policy and is further required to complete FERPA and HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.
