Texas A&M University - Texarkana is launching the Better East Texas initiative and educational campaign to address the needs of this historically underserved region. We are inviting applications for the Lecturer of Engineering/Director of Forest Products Executive Education position to support this initiative. A master's or a doctorate degree in a relevant field is required for the lecturer rank. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new academic program intended to impact East Texas positively.
Under general direction, the Lecturer of Engineering/Director of Forest Products Executive Education directs the operations and administration of the forest product certificate program and maintains responsibility for the assigned program. This position initially carries 50% administrative duties as a Director of Forest Products Executive Education and 50% as a faculty member. The engineering division chair and the college dean can adjust this percentage.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides intellectual and philosophical leadership of faculty, staff and students for synergistic, academic, research, extension, and service programs as applied to the forest products industry.
- Teach fundamental relevant courses in existing engineering degree programs or courses related to chemical engineering or Pulp and Paper technology
- Manages and coordinates the program's human and fiscal resources related to this forest products initiative.
- Develop chemical engineering programs with a specialized focus on pulp and paper.
- Act as a liaison for the forest products certificate program with the Texas A&M University System administration and local pulp and paper-related industries.
- Represents the forest products certificate program to State and Federal agencies, private organizations, partners, collaborators, and key industry groups.
- Provides leadership for continuous acquisition of internal and external resources as related to the forest products industry.
- Teaching and maintaining appropriate ties to local pulp and paper industries.
- Create executive development programs for industry professionals

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
- At least, a master's degree in Chemical Engineering, or in a closely related field related.
- A record of demonstrated successful leadership, program development, and organizational planning.
- Experience in the pulp and paper industry, including research and/or practical applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Paper Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Technology, or a closely related field.
- Ability to write certification, degree, and grant proposals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively and collaboratively with others.
- Teaching experience in engineering courses
- Licensing/Professional Certification – Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Two to four years of related experience in the chemical engineering with a focus on pulp and paper industry.
- Experience with the ABET accreditation process.
