Job Description
The Director of Military and Veteran Services, under general direction, directs services and programs for military-affiliated students offered through the Ted and Diane Connell Military and Veteran Services Center; including military and veteran benefits, military evaluated credit, recruitment and success initiatives, and support functions for the Army ROTC program.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, evaluate policies and procedures for the Ted & Diane Connell Military and Veteran Services Center (the Center) related to evaluated credit (JST), military tuition assistance, Veteran education benefits, and other services/programs dedicated to military affiliated students. Assist with processing and evaluation of credit as needed.
- In collaboration with IT and other institutional departments, maintain Banner student forms, third party systems, and external agency portals related to military and Veteran education benefits.
- Establish goals and assessments, in coordination with the Division leadership, to gauge departmental success and promote continuous improvement.
- Oversight for institutional processing of military and Veteran education benefits. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Conduct internal assessments to verify compliance.
- Communicate with campus community and external audiences regarding benefit programs, departmental services, and support programs.
- Manage departmental budget and expenditures for the Center to the extent authorized. Ensure expenditures are necessary and directly related to supporting the institutions enrollment goals.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluation of departmental staff.
- Provides direct supervision of departmental staff with focus on high performance and exceptional customer service for students.
- Research, propose, and implement programs designed to support successful transition of military affiliated students into higher education or workforce, and promote degree completion.
- Serve as advocate for military affiliated students and build connections with external entities to support military-affiliated student success.
- Engage military-affiliated students to identify opportunities to improve support services and build stronger connections amongst military-affiliated students and between the institution.
- Assist with recruitment of military-affiliated students. Serve as the primary point of contact with the Education Services Office at Ft. Hood.
- Monitor workloads and adherence to project timelines to ensure operations are functioning within expected performance standards.
- Serve on university committees and actively participate in external professional associations.
- Attend conferences and other meetings necessary to maintain knowledge of best practices related to military affiliated student services.
- Monitor data and provide reports as requested by administration related to operations to the Center.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of related experience working with veterans in a higher education setting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Licensing:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of issues affecting Veterans.
- Multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent organizational, skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary: $70,000
Hours: Monday - Friday; 8am to 5pm; night and weekends as needed.
