SUMMARY:
The Department of Counseling in the College of Education and Human Services at East Texas A&M University invites applicants for a full-time tenure track, 9-month Assistant Professor positions with appointment beginning Fall 2025. The position will support our CACREP approved MS in Clinical Mental Health, MS in School Counseling, and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision programs and our undergraduate program in Human Services. The successful candidate will engage in research (area of research is open), teaching courses in our undergraduate and graduate programs, and providing service to the university, college, department, and profession. Candidates should be licensed, licensed eligible, or certified in their respective field of counseling.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach undergraduate, masters, and/or doctoral level courses in counseling;
- Advise/Supervise students;
- Support training clinics by assisting Clinical Director
- Prepare syllabi, update course materials and develop curriculum;
- Deliver instruction both online and face-to-face on any of the university campuses (graduate courses are taught during evening hours and some courses taught on Saturday at our Dallas site);
- Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs;
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and community;
- Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends and best practices in teaching and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.
- Maintain an active research agenda
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a regionally accredited university
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: academic background commensurate with the rank of assistant professor. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals. Good written and oral communication skills. Commitment to high quality teaching. Dedication to high standards and student success. Clinical counseling experience.
- Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Licensed, Licensed Eligible, or Certified in respective field of counseling.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from CACREP-accredited program.
- Experience teaching in CACREP-accredited program
- Online teaching experience;
- The preferred applicant will have teaching experience in one of the following or a combination thereof (career development/counseling, assessment, clinical mental health counseling, and/or school counseling);
- Ability to teach research methodology/statistics courses, especially quantitative.
- Demonstration of active participation in counseling professional organizations;
- Familiarity with CACREP standards;
- Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor with a minimum of 2 years of experience or as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S)
