DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides individual, group, and couples counseling including intakes, screenings, and assessments.
- Engages in client staffing, case management, consultation and referral.
- Organizes, coordinates and provides supervision and training for interns, practicum students, and LPC-Associates.
- Provides crisis intervention and consults with associate directors as needed.
- Engages in program development, educational outreach, and evaluation.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external colleagues. Consults with faculty and staff regarding services for students.
- Engages in professional development to maintain licensure.
- Utilizes Electronic Medical Records System to maintain client records in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
- Provides service to the University through involvement in committees as assigned by the director.
- Assists with oversight and monitoring of student/client service quality.
- Engages in and provides oversight of the provision of professional development for staff.
- Referral services and serves as community liaison.
- Assists in managing high acuity and complex clinical cases.
- Facilitates referrals when necessary to higher level of care including an evaluation for inpatient services.
- Provides supervision of staff as assigned by the director.
- May assume responsibilities of the director in his/her absence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education and Experience: Master's degree in counseling psychology, or social work. Five years post-licensure clinical mental health experience in college counseling center or other relevant setting or two years of full time post-graduation experience with three years of full-time post licensure experience in college counseling center or relevant setting.
- Knowledge / Skills: Understanding of relevant clinical and supervision models, programs and resources. Knowledge of the mental health needs of a university setting. Excellent organizational and administrative abilities. Strong work ethic and sense of collegiality. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database applications and electronic healthcare recordkeeping. Knowledge of student development. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Licensing / Professional Certification: Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and eligible for Board Approved supervisor licensure in Texas to be completed within the first six months. Licensure experience from other states may be considered.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods of time for outreach events.
- Other Requirements: University functions and/or crisis situations that arise may necessitate working beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends which will be on a limited basis.
PREFERRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Doctorate in counseling, psychology, or social work. 15 or more years' experience in counseling or related field. Licensed as an LPC and board approved supervisor in Texas. Experience in a college counseling center or other relevant university setting. Recent training or certification in Advanced Trauma-Informed Care. Bi-lingual (preferably Spanish speaking).
SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL:
Graduate assistants, interns, and practicum students.
