PURPOSE
The Admissions Counselor II, under general supervision, identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of applicants, admitted, and enrolled students. Serves as a mentor, coordinates travel schedules and recruitment strategies/assignments, and develops recruiting plans. This position is housed on campus and will require travel.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Student Recruitment, Admissions & Travel
Percent Effort: 60%
- Advise all prospective students (mainly from the Coastal Bend and Corpus Christi region) on admission requirements, enrollment information, academic offerings, and opportunities available to them at TAMU-CC.
- Build relationships and partnerships with Coastal Bend based high school counselors, community college representatives, and community organizations throughout the Coastal Bend.
- Visit Coastal Bend schools to offer presentations and host admissions events. Attend college fairs, signing days, and other requests that require TAMU-CC participation.
- Recruit undergraduate students during the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO) recruiting season in Coastal Bend and other regions across the state.
- Develop and implement recruitment programs and strategies to attract prospective students and yield admitted students.
- Participate in campus preview events, recruitment programs, trainings, etc.
- Reconcile monthly travel statements and billings.
- This position is not limited to assisting Coastal Bend students, this position will also be the main point of contact for students that live in the Southern US Region.
Functional Area 2: Communicate
Percent Effort: 30%
- Communicate with students, counselors, and parents about student information regarding their application statuses and admission files.
- Send monthly reports to high school partners to ensure counselors are aware of their students’ statuses.
- Use text messaging, phone calls, emails, and postal mail to connect with students, parents, and counselors.
- Prepare weekly recruitment reports for the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
Functional Area 3: Coordinate Programs
Percent Effort 10%
- Coordinate and host recruitment and admission events in the region to collect applications and yield students.
- Coordinate an annual Counselor Update to provide information to local school counselors and community partners.
- Coordinate with local alumni to assist with recruitment initiatives.
- Coordinate the Coastal Bend and other TACRAO college fair schedules for team members to attend.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree.
- One (1) year of experience in admissions, student recruiting, student affairs, for college relations.
- Ability to travel and work irregular hours including weekends.
- Strong public speaking and presentation, customer service, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Intermediate skills with personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, imitative, and organize events.
- Ability to learn TAMU-CC admissions, academic offerings, services, and student opportunities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Education, Communications, or Business/Marketing.
- Documented excellence in a profession role, dealing one-on-one with people on a daily basis in a dynamic and service-oriented environment.
- Experience with Banner Student Information System, CRM Software, and other enrollment applications like Argos, Laserfiche, etc.
SALARY: $3,657.34 approx. monthly ($43,888 approx. annually)
