PURPOSE
This position is responsible for assisting in the management of a comprehensive Student Activities Department, primarily overseeing Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) and Student Organizations as well as the administrative functions of the department.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Program Management
Percent Effort: 45%
  • Coordinate, oversee, and advise the FSL program, including staffing, budgets and conduct issues. Provide support and guidance to staff directly responsible for the three councils and Order of Omega.
  • Oversee Student Organizations including providing support and guidance to staff directly responsible for UCSO, budgets and conduct.
  • Advise at least one of the three Greek Councils.
Functional Area 2: Administrative
Percent Effort: 45%
  • Assist the Director with the management of the Student Activities department in the development of departmental budgets, goals, policies, contract administration and assessment of programs.
  • Hire, schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate both full-time and student employees.
  • Write, evaluate, and implement policies and procedures. Administer risk management for areas under supervision and oversee the student organization conduct process.
Functional Area 3: Other
Percent Effort: 10%
  • Attend Division wide meetings and professional development workshops.
  • Assist Student Life Unit or other SEAS departments with different events throughout the year.
  • Serve on university councils and committees and assist with special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Six (6) years of experience in a student affairs environment or related field.
  • Additional experience/education may be used as a substitute for the minimum education/experience requirement.
    • Master’s and four (4) years experience in a student affairs environment or related field.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here
  • Managerial/supervisory experience with full-time and student staff.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), assessments, and databases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to build relationships with students, staff, faculty, administration, and community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of risk management, experiential learning, assessment techniques and various issues in higher education administration.
  • Ability to perform administrative duties such as budgets and expenditures of resources, planning, and have excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education.
  • Experience in a student union and/or student activities environment including programming and using student development theory.
  • Experience advising Fraternities/ Sororities and student organizations and with a student organization conduct process.
  • Experience with a student organization management system such as Anthology’s Engage.
SALARY $50,000 - $54,000 (Annually Approx.)
  • $4,166.67 - $4,500 Monthly
