PURPOSE
The Campus Visits and Orientation Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the university’s enrollment and retention goals by facilitating a warm welcome to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for new students while promoting student engagement, retention, and success.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Orientation Program for New Students and Their Families
Percent Effort: 40%
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of orientation programs for first-year, transfer, and international students.
  • Support the recruitment and training of student orientation leaders, helping prepare them to facilitate sessions and welcome new students.
  • Coordinate logistics for orientation events, including scheduling, venue setup, and technology needs.
  • Serve as a point of contact for students and families, providing information and resources to support their transition to campus.
  • Provide quality customer service in-person, over the phone, and via email to prospective students and stakeholders by supplying accurate information regarding TAMU-CC's orientation programs. Manage departmental email inboxes for inquiry emails to direct prospective students to event registration and resources.
  • Coordinate new student orientation registration via technology portal and student record information system.
  • Maintain promotional collateral closet and inventory of prospective student marketing materials. Coordinate ordering with department director.
  • Gather feedback from students and families to assess program effectiveness and implement improvements.
Functional Area 2: Campus Visits & Welcome Center Support
Percent Effort: 40%
  • Supervise the daily operations of the campus Welcome Center, ensuring a welcoming environment for visitors.
  • Train and manage student staff, including ambassadors, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to university policies.
  • Coordinate and schedule campus tours, responding to inquiries and managing logistics.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of student ambassadors who lead campus tours and engagement activities. Serve as advisor and facilitator for the Island Ambassador program.
  • Maintain visitor resources, marketing materials, and promotional items for prospective students and guests.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to campus visits, including attendance, feedback, and resource use.
  • Provide customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions, addressing inquiries related to university programs, admissions, and student services.
Functional Area 3: Recruitment and Admission Event Support
Percent Effort: 20%
  • Assist with the organization and execution of recruitment and admission events, such as open houses and admitted student days.
  • Assist in event logistics, including space reservations, catering, technology setup, and guest communications.
  • Serve as an on-site coordinator during events, ensuring smooth operations and a welcoming atmosphere.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two (2) years of related experience
  • Experience in student programming, admissions, recruitment, event coordination, or a related area (internships, volunteer work, or student leadership roles accepted).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite, and typical modern computer programs.
  • Ability to learn CRM and event management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of event logistics and planning.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and enthusiasm for working with students and families.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising and training student staff or volunteers.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and event management platforms.
  • Familiarity with university admissions, student transition programs, or event planning
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills.
SALARY: Up to $44,000/annually, approximately.
  • $3,666.67 /monthly.
