Our natural setting is enhanced by its modern, attractive, and state-of-the-art classroom buildings and support facilities.Learn more information here!PURPOSETexas A&M University-Corpus Christi's IT Project Manager I/II will report to the Chief Information Officer and will be responsible for managing the planning, execution, and successful completion of concurrent, strategic projects. Responsibilities would include managing the project scope, schedule, budget, and for developing detailed project plans, monitoring project milestones, generating periodic status reports, evaluating, managing risk, project communications, documentation, data analysis, and reporting.DESCRIPTIONFunctional Area 1: Solution Planning & Delivery Percent Effort: 40%
  • Coordinates and management of project work associated with small to medium sized projects and enhancements needed within the organization.
  • Implements agile best practices in projects, including managing sprints/epics, tracking team progress, and facilitating Agile ceremonies like sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Prepares and maintains project plans, including defining project scope, resource needs, timeline estimates, project status reports, tracks milestones, risks, and dependencies, and adjusts plans as needed.
  • Works with implementation team to create and maintain user stories and functional requirements and technical design documentation.
  • Prepares post-project reports, budget allocations, and summaries for timely dissemination.
  • Actively identify and manage project risks, issues, and decisions; navigate a complex organization to facilitate the resolution of these challenges.
  • Document and escalate Project Change Requests as needed to maintain alignment on scope, budget and timelines.
  • Coordinate with IT Directors and Managers on tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring balanced workloads and optimal utilization of skills.
  • Coordinates directly with IT Directors and Managers to initiate and organize project outcomes.
  • Coordinate with project resources and their managers from other parts of the organization to ensure resource commitments and delivery timelines are met.
  • Estimate projects using multiple techniques to arrive at realistic schedules; clearly highlight methods used and assumptions made when communicating estimates.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, ensuring effective communication and coordination among team members and stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to project management best practices, methodologies, and organizational standards.
Functional Area 2: Product Quality Assurance Percent Effort: 25%
  • Monitor project deliverables for quality and compliance with established guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the scope of work and manage the project schedule; articulate how decisions may impact the schedule, budget, and/or scope accordingly.
  • Manage and deliver project results predictably: on time, on budget, and on quality.
  • Ensure that data handling processes comply with data security and privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA) and established data governance policies.
  • Maintain KPIs on the team's estimation quality and overall velocity.
  • Ensure documentation of data flow processes, including data lineage, data dictionaries, and data transformation rules.
  • Ensure appropriate test plans are developed and executed for User Acceptance
Functional Area 3: Stakeholder and Team Communication Percent Effort: 15%
  • Communicates between team members, stakeholders, and customers, including facilitating regular status updates, managing expectations, and providing timely feedback.
  • Partner with other IT teams to engage both internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements and expectations.
  • Address stakeholder concerns, manage expectations, and ensure elevated levels of customer satisfaction.
Functional Area 4: Agile Project Management Educational Efforts Percent Effort: 15%
  • Encourage training and development needs for team members, providing coaching and mentoring, as necessary.
  • Assist the in creating a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting effective communication and knowledge sharing of Agile methodologies.
  • Introduce Agile methodologies and tools to manage projects to assist team members in working efficiently and effectively.
Functional Area 5: Staff and Professional Development / Other Percent Effort: 5%
  • Attend educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; benchmark state of the art practices; participate in professional societies as defines in the annual goal planning discussions.
  • Proactively learn and utilize innovative technologies, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements.
  • Read manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how to develop programs that meet staff and user requirements.
  • Adhere to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS IT Project Manager I
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
  • Three years of relevant experience in IT.
  • Additional experience may be considered as a substitution for the minimum education requirement.
  • Associate degree and five (5) years of relevant experience in IT. OR High School Diploma/GED and seven (7) years of relevant experience in IT.
IT Project Manager II
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
  • Five years of related experience in IT.
  • Additional experience may be considered as a substitution for the minimum education requirement.
  • Associate degree and seven (7) years of relevant experience in IT. OR High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years of relevant experience in IT.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
  • Experience in higher education, organizational development and / or human resources.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, tools and concepts in ITL and BABOK
  • Critical thinking and analytical abilities, exceptional communication & negotiation skills, and strong leadership and collaborative skills, as well as project management skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate both problems and proposed solutions.
SALARY $75,312-$91,000 Annual Approximately (Dependent upon education and experience.)
  • $6,275 - $7,583.34 Monthly
