The Dental Laboratory Manager coordinates the distribution, oversight, and maintenance of supplies and equipment in departmental teaching laboratories; prepares specifications, oversees laboratory set-ups, and ensures efficient operations of demonstrations and/or equipment in teaching laboratories.

Proposed Salary: $4,180.17 - $5,373.34 monthly
Work Schedule/Location: Located in Dallas, TX, this an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years of related experience in laboratory management
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience as a dental technician or in a similar role within a dental lab
Hands on experience with a variety of dental lab tasks
Familiarity with digital dentistry workflows
Ability to work with stone, plaster, and other dental model materials
Familiarity with dental terminology and processes
Previous experience with digital impressions/CAD software
Experience ordering supplies and equipment
Experience maintaining inventory records
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Knowledge of use and maintenance of digital data
Knowledge of applicable safety requirements
Knowledge of laboratory equipment, related supplies, computer hardware and software, and their applications
Skill in utilizing organization and time management and in effectively managing multiple priorities daily
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience
Ability to analyze and develop guidelines, procedures, and systems to outline specific goals and implement plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks

Responsibilities
Digital Dentistry Operational Support: Prepares materials for digital scanning and emergency appointments. Provide guidance and limited laboratory support for students for laboratory phase of both digital and analog fabrication restorations. Provide laboratory support for clinical cases, including shade alteration, shade selections, addition of porcelain and gold contacts, porcelain glazing, metal polishing, etc. as requested.
Lab Coordination: Coordinates laboratory facility and services to ensure essential resources are available. Maintains and monitors inventory of the equipment and supplies ensuring that they are available, functional, and maintained properly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Reviews all lab cases for certain criteria, ensuring proper completion. Manages the check in/check-out process of cases coming from and going out to labs in Axium. Runs audit reports on lab cases as needed to ensure procedures are paid for in full, and that lab cases are turned in on time. Proactively checks for overdue cases and communicates with the lab or student as needed. Oversees the documentation, maintenance, and certification of equipment and incident reports. Manages inventory for all laboratory supplies, and file documentation of received supplies. Oversees the sterilization, maintenance, and inventory of laboratory utensils Maintains laboratory instruments and department equipment according to Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) specifications and TAMU policies for proper operating. Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness. Coordinates any needed repairs, updates, etc. for the lab. Maintain cleanliness of laboratory. Prep and package casts, inspect lab scripts for accuracy and file lab script copies. Maintain control over laboratory equipment and supplies, maintain stock at required levels and assures that equipment is operating properly. Maintains quality assurance manuals, Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs), validation of laboratory procedures, check sample program, and record control. Adheres to Federal, State, and Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) procedures, policies, and safety regulations. Ensures that procedures are carried out appropriately and issues are addressed. Mix and apply porcelain to castings: shapes, contours, sculptures and fire ceramic in accordance with required specifications using vacuum furnaces. Fabricate metallic restorations using gold and non-precious metals.
Supervision & Training: Administers the scheduling of laboratory workload and supervises technical staff and/or student workers in the performance of assigned duties. Provides training for new laboratory and staff on use laboratory equipment. Communicates lab procedures to ensure understanding to all lab members. Present clinics, table clinics and demonstrations for students, faculty and practitioners in continuing education programs when requested. Maintains updated trainings and certifications in laboratory safety procedures and ensures the teaching and creation of laboratory manuals.
Communication/Collaboration: Proposes ideas to engage our customers to increase the position and areas productivity. Attends, participates, and provides updates in departmental and/or other meetings. Department’s designated liaison between the department, outside labs, and students.
