The Research Technician in Molecular Biology performs a variety of technical and specialized laboratory procedures in the field of molecular biology; conducts experiments, maintains laboratory equipment, and ensures the accuracy and validity of experimental results; works under the direction of senior researchers/graduate students and contribute to ongoing research projects by collecting data, analyzing results, and preparing reports; maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment and adhering to all safety protocols.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma
Two years of related experience in molecular biology techniques, experienced with phage display, library panning, ELISA and recombinant protein expression and purification
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biology or bioengineering
Proficient in molecular biology techniques, experienced with phage display, library panning, ELISA and recombinant protein expression and purification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry
Proficiency in using computational tools and software for gene design and cloning, such as Benchling and VectorNTI
Skills in protein expression, purification, and characterization are necessary for experimental validation
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are required to interpret data and troubleshoot experiments
An understanding of genetic engineering methods, including CRISPR and plasmid design, is advantageous
The ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate complex scientific concepts effectively is vital
Responsibilities
Research: Conducts research. Maintains laboratory equipment. Assists senior lab members in data acquisition. Ensures smooth lab operation.
Research Procedure Support: Assists PI and senior lab members in ordering, organizing, cleaning as well as proposal/manuscript writing.
Training: Trains new lab members on basic experimental techniques. Trains members on lab safety. Participates in training and professional development sessions as needed.
