Job Description
The Early Childhood Teacher I, under supervision, provides assistance in classroom activities and instruction and provides support for educational, emotional, and physical needs of children.
Responsibilities:
- Interacts, initiates, encourages, and supervises the children in daily activities.
- Assists in orienting, supervising, and working collaboratively with classroom teacher aides.
- Develops a cooperative and supportive attitude within the room.
- Trains classroom assistants so that management is consistent.
- Maintains a safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment by changing play areas bi-monthly, cleaning toys and equipment weekly, and checking for hazards daily.
- Assists in record keeping by assisting in observations regarding children’s health, behavior, and development.
- Assists in planning activities for the assigned group and offers suggestions and information about the children.
- Assists in addressing concerns or solving problems with children and parents.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma.
- No prior experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of child development phases and teaching techniques.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
- Infant and Child CPR, First Aid Certification, or the ability to be certified within 60 days of employment.
