Job Description
The Department of History, Philosophy, & Geography seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment in Geography beginning in Fall 2025. Area of specialization is open, but an ability to teach introductory U.S. and World Geography courses is required. The base teaching load at A&M-SA is 4/4. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.
Required Education and Experience:
- M.A. in Geography or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the time of appointment.
- A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in history.
- University teaching experience commensurate with the rank of Lecturer.
- Availability to teach in-person classes.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Ph.D. in Geography or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the time of appointment.
- ArcGIS Experience.
- Human and/or Urban Geography.
- Ability to teach upper division Geography courses in the field of specialization.
- Active research agenda in the field of specialization.

- Approaches to teaching students from different backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
