Job Description
Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMUSA) is currently seeking a Web Applications Developer III to join the Web Services team in the Information Technology Services department. A successful candidate will be able to plan and develop new and current web functionality and applications using different web development stacks such as LAMP stack. This individual should be able to provide support and maintenance on new and current applications, gather and analyze requirements from university departments, faculty, and staff. As the Web Developer III this individual will be tasked to build and apply industry web sites that are visually appealing using HTML, CSS, PHP and JS.
Responsibilities:
- Develops locally created tools that facilitate the use of the university website, including plan, research, code, test, and deploy.
- Provides support and maintenance on the new applications.
- Work with the university content management system; Cascade CMS, to maintain websites and implement new websites/components into CMS.
- Fix accessibility issues using WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.2 compliance.
- Support digital displays throughout campus.
- Serves as a point of contact for new applications and/or update launches.
- Ensures all new web functions are accessibility compliant and all web pages/applications are responsive web design and technology into all site development.
- Maintains current web functionality/applications and corrects arising issues within web functionality/applications as needed.
- Enhance web functionality/applications through regular communication with university personnel.
- Provides instruction and troubleshooting to faculty, staff, and students
- Performs usability and user-experience testing.
- Research and implements new web technologies as deemed appropriate in the effort to improve and enhance the university’s web presence.
- Supports web development using revision control software.
This is a full-time, on-site position.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related field.
- Six (6) years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge in Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Cascade CMS, WordPress, Drupal, Joomla.
- Experience with Cascade Cloud CMS, LAMP Stack, PHP (or similar language), SQL Server (or similar), MS Server 2016/IIS 7, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, SCSS, API Integrations.
- Experience with debugging website on all browsers including Chrome/Android/iOS platforms.
