The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) full-time, instructional assistant professor of Music in Collaborative Piano with a nine-month, non-tenure accruing academic appointment beginning Fall 2025.

The College and the Dance, Music and Performance Section (DMPT) seek an individual who demonstrates expertise in collaborative piano performance, with a secondary focus on Piano instruction. Preference will be given to candidates who perform in a diverse range of styles, genres and ensemble settings, and have experience in one or more of the following fields:

  • Music and Theater
  • Music and Dance
  • Music and Visual Arts (e.g., sound art, sound installations)
  • Music and Film
  • Music and Gaming


Responsibilities: In addition to Collaborative Pianist duties, candidates should be able to teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate level in the B.F.A. in Music Performance. Candidates who can teach courses on history, theory, and cultural contexts of collaborative and interdisciplinary performance practices are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate is expected to make significant contributions to teaching activity in educational and applied settings. Instructional faculty will also make significant contributions in service. Service activities will be central to carrying the curriculum forward, and professional development in the collaborative performance field. Instructional faculty members will primarily be evaluated on teaching activity, and service activity incident to the context of instruction and program/curricular development.

About the College: The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts is a College within the Texas A&M University System and has a diverse and dynamic mission with nearly 100 faculty and more than 30 staff members and a projected exponential growth in the next 5 years. The College

was formed from three departments/programs spread across the university: the Department of Visualization, the Department of Performance Studies, and the Dance Science Program. The mission of PVFA places a heavy emphasis on faculty and student collaboration and interdisciplinary work in both scholarly and creative research. Texas A&M University leadership has charged the College with developing innovative research and creative works, public performances, and degree offerings at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels that build upon our strength in merging art and science, as well as the traditional fields of music, dance, art, and theater. Candidates must hold a terminal degree (PhD, D.M.A., MM or MFA) in Music as described above by appointment start date. Candidates are expected to be credentialed to teach at the undergraduate level, have experience teaching at the undergraduate level, and must have a well-developed collaborative performance portfolio that will inform and advance current trends in the field.
